Arleen was already Assistant Manager in the Award winning Glengormley branch of Sir Brian Morton and Company under the legendary Ken Smyth when she went out on her own.
She felt she could provide a more tailored, professional, and above all, simple service to her clients in her own company, and became one of the first women agents in the Province. Her motto from the beginning was it's "as easy as ABC".
Not long after the office was first established in Ferbro Buildings in the centre of Glengormley, the early 80's recession hit quite hard, but Arleen weathered the storm and indeed prospered, to purchase our current offices at the junction of the Carnmoney and Antrim Roads in the Mid-80's.

The new offices provided more space and security and a strong springboard to move into the 90's with optimism and industriousness. The early 90's had many challenges; not least of which were another major recession in the property market, and a large bomb planted in the centre of Glengormley.
ABC, however, bucked the trend, and actually expanded, literally, buying property from our neighbour to enlarge and refurbish our office.

It was at this time that ABC Rental Centre was opened, to capitalise on the increase in the Buy-to-Let market, and to create a professional alternative to the ad-hoc Letting Agency services available at the time. This quickly grew and became the largest Letting Agency in the Newtownabbey area, and a mainstay of the business.
In the new millennium, ABC was at the forefront, being one of the first agents in the area to have its own website and to use the advantages of new digital technologies. The Lettings business in particular expanded rapidly, and would be a bulwark when the Financial Crisis of 2008 came to pass.
During this time, A Barton Company became a family business, with Graham Barton joining as an Agent in 2007, and his father (also Graham), forming his own business, ABC Maintenance, a perfect partnership to the Letting side of the business.
ABC has seen a renewed confidence since the property bubble burst in 2008, with more sales, and with lettings at an all time high. An increase in New Build developments and, more recently, of executive and technical company tenants, insures that A Barton Company moves forward in the changing market place. Our continuing motto reflects our ambition to make everything for our clients "as easy as ABC".
